#1: so my student loans got sold to this stupid mohela place and their website is stupid
#1: wow, that’s dumb. To make a one-time extra payment, you have to set up a recurring payment but just stop it before the second one would happen.
Books to the ceiling,
Books to the sky,
My pile of books is a mile high.
How I love them! How I need them!
I'll have a long beard by the time I read them.

Wondering if they got sold to the same place as mine and my husband’s loans. Such a pain to set up automatically and they want you to pay online because they don’t send anything to let you mail back payment stubs.

My student loans are also serviced by Mohela, and their system is annoyingly user-unfriendly. I have no tricks or advice to give, and can only offer my solidarity in suffering through the repayment period

One of the perks of being a ND resident (at least until a few years ago) is that I could get all my loans through Bank of North Dakota (socialism at its finest!). I also had some other loans through another place, and BND was SO much easier to work with…and they don’t care if you pay things off early! When it was in deferment, I would try to pay a little extra every time they sent me a statement of accumulated interest, and managed to pay off one of the smaller ones before it even came out of deferment.

Paying off early is not penalized, just inconvenient. Hate hate hate.

Wow, that sucks. One of my credit unions actually does transfers that way in their system, so it’s kind of confusing.

I’m always shocked that so many financial websites are so user un-friendly. With all the student loan problems in the US is should be easy as pie to make early payments. Seriously.

My husband’s loans just got moved too. Our only clue was that they were mysteriously paid off. We didn’t have any luck trying to find out what happened, until I saw a new company on his credit report. I searched their street address, from the credit report, found out their company name, then found their website, and they are holding his loan. Seems like they should have told us . . .

That seems very wrong.

That sort of happened to #1 too. In their defense they did send me an official notice about it, but it looked spammy so I threw it away.
