We’re not sure if we’re going to survive the semester. The blog queue is empty! But #2 has on her calendar to craft delicious posts for you for the upcoming week. So that’s something to look forward to!
There are many posts out there making fun of the ridiculous Jonathan Franzen post because he is a hilarious buffoon of cranky white male privilege (he has everything, so it’s hard to feel sorry for him), but this one is the funniest. We also have not had sex with Franzen.
Less is enough with the sometimes phone tips.
Dean Dad talks about what skills are important for the first job compared to later career jobs.
Penn State fines women for not disclosing their sexual habits.
Tressie MC discusses the very real danger of not signaling that you don’t fit a negative stereotype.
The non-consumer advocate asks why people are such jerks when someone rich tries to bring attention to hunger.
THIS IS WHAT MORNING IS LIKE
I like the title of this post from stirrup queens.
I’m not sure I would want to see these musicals.
I dunno, is that enough links for you?

I’ve read a few Franzen responses; that was the best. Jennifer Weiner’s was pretty good, seeing as how he name-checked her. I don’t love her books, but I liked a few well enough and she didn’t deserve his comments. Most interestingly was how media didn’t say anything about his commentary on her (not the first time he’s felt the need to carry on), but when she responded it was boiled down to a silly “writer’s feud.”
On a fun note, did you see this? http://www.buzzfeed.com/ariellecalderon/cats-who-immediately-regret-their-decisions

Yeah — Penn State, what were you thinking? I mean, sure, IBTP, but — really??? (yes, yes, I know: really) (I mean, I know they’ve now dropped it, which, good — but, still!)

You’d think they’d have a crack legal team at this point, who could have say, let them know that this was illegal.

I know! And not only that but word is there are researchers at Penn State who understand the value of things like, say, data (beyond the whole ‘reproductive plans’ issue, my understanding is that the questionnaire was not plausibly linked to evidence that the information it collected would help lower costs…)

Penn State gives the state of Pennsylvania even more to be proud of…..sigh….
On the upside those dogs cheered me up. :) Will be struggling through this semester with you! Having trouble finding time to write posts.
