Banned queer books quietly disappear (Paired action: Donate to Donors Choose classroom trying to get LGBT books to kids OR write your local school board/principal/public library to support diverse books. Here’s scripts. ) I saw this in action at our local public library… they very briefly had “Who is Ru Paul” on their front page and it quietly disappeared from the catalog. I made sure to request “Who was Harvey Milk” before it could similarly disappear.

Thank you so much for this! Resources for Texas trans kids are especially appreciated. One of the resources I’ve seen is a Google doc for families in Texas who need to move. While I’m glad it exists for families in direct danger, I’m not sure it addresses the problem head on.

Thanks for sharing your list and links! I’m doing my donations this morning and will also share in my next Friday post too. @popelizbet is also fundraising to help trans people get a name change petition filed: https://twitter.com/popelizbet/status/1497361884122689538

Thanks for the shares and the continuing progress on your challenge!
I have written an email to my local school district about book banning because of this post. I found an article where they refused to hand over a list of books as requested by some Representative, saying their entire catalog is already online, so I think they’re on the side against book banning. But I still wrote in support.
Yes, that potato vlog is now in my top three cooking videos. Even though I don’t make my potatoes that way and don’t want to. And I want to give him tongs. Or some kind of thin protective gloves where you can still feel things without it hurting.
That article on how to make yourself do stuff is interesting. I have an online friend who really hates #2 (when other people don’t do things because they don’t feel motivated). He lived with undiagnosed depression for decades and didn’t even want to get out of bed, but he just did what he had to do anyway. He has such a good point–if he can do way more than me while suffering from depression, I could probably do better.

10s of thousands of premeds have made themselves do ochem and physics *somehow,* surely I can find a way to motivate myself to write this damn paper. Gah! Now I feel guilty for taking (part of) the weekend off. :-(

I took Saturday completely off and had so many emails on Sunday morning.

I don’t think it’s possible for anyone to do “enough” because there’s so much to be done. But we should focus on what we have done and are doing. Thank you for doing things!

And sadly, sometimes just not screaming has to count as an accomplishment. Because of course it wouldn’t help anything.
