Busy week!
As predicted LAC day was a bloodbath. More on that later this week after DC1 gets today’s two decisions. We had consolation Chinese food last night (DC1: Williams decided to reject me an hour early. They just couldn’t wait.)
Books to the ceiling,
Books to the sky,
My pile of books is a mile high.
How I love them! How I need them!
I'll have a long beard by the time I read them.

Oh! I should keep plugging postcards to voters for the upcoming Wisconsin elections. I’ve been doing 10/week.

It seems really similar to a date nut torte in the old fashioned cookbook by Jan McBride

This is the first time I’ve seen that guy dislike something he’s cooked!
Bummer about LAC day.

It’s ok— DC1 has some excellent options and difficult choices ahead. And a huge number of consolation/celebration meals ahead (yesterday we had crepe cakes and I think today is pizza).

I’ll be glad when May 1st comes as this college angst will be behind us. The reality is that even when a school isn’t a top choice, it still hurts when you don’t get in. But then too many choices is also hard. Thank goodness there is more than one right answer.
Our last round of notifications will be April 1 for the CA schools. Good luck. It’s been kinda nice doing this somewhat together and comparing notes.
Williams appears to have a more lenient acceptance criteria for kids from its own county as there are always 1 or 2 kids from our school that get in if they ED there. I don’t know of anyone that’s gotten in regular decision as they always get a slew of those top tier applicants who EDd at ivys but didn’t get in. One other strange data point. Our humanities teacher used to teach at Williams and is excellent. My kid said he moved because our school pays better. Could that possibly be true? I could see wanting to shorten your commute or something but could a HS in a wealthy school district really pay more than a college professor?
Best of luck on the home stretch.

Yes, my mom would have made 2x the salary as a high school teacher (in a Union state). There’s too many humanities phds.
