Not really a light link love, but shorter than usual for various reasons.
I’m not sure where/how to report our political action as time goes on, but, like my friend who IM’d me yesterday said, I do not want to get complacent or too dispirited and stop. This needs to keep going until I can, until we all can, trust our government officials to make decisions again. Until then I MUST stay active and pay attention. This past week was full of calling senators and congress people about trump’s racist cabinet picks, his conflicts of interest, and the other things mentioned in the previous days posts. I also got on the mailing list for our local democratic party even though they haven’t done anything. I think we’re still active enough as a nation that there will be plenty more to do in the coming weeks without me planning it out now. But eventually I will get organized and report back to the Grumpy Nation with posts about what I’m doing and why. Please keep telling us what you’re doing as well. It’s really scary when you talk to a former member of W’s administration and he tells you that his biggest fear going forward is the same as your biggest fear (and also explains how your second biggest fear can lead to the first). We must stay vigilant.

If you can’t go to the one in DC, cities all around the country are planning marches on the same day. I will go to the one in the city that’s having it closest to me. Is there one planned near you?

I called my senators most days. One of them is totally on board, so stopped calling his office/using his time. The other is a lame duck Republican who was anti-Trump in the early days. He has such an incredible opportunity right now (is/was anti-Trump! does not have to worry about re-election!), but has completely failed to do anything except post statements to his blog about local/state news. I think he’s still upset about losing, even though he’s still in office right now. And now I’m getting angry thinking about it again.
I also participated in a conference call and then passed the news about documents/gender markers for trans* folks to another relevant group. That felt useful/depressing.
I still can’t stop reading Twitter, which is mostly pointless and a giant time suck. But it does at least make me feel less crazy about things, since when I’m out and about in the real world and I watch other folks (seemingly) blithely moving along through life, having conversations about how they’re going to refinish their basement or whether or not it would be a good idea to replace a light fixture, I start to feel like I am nuts for feeling so panicked.
By the way, is your biggest worry also the first you listed?

Adding: Right now I am actually praying for a president Pence sooner rather than later because even though he will be horrific for minorities, women, and the economy, he is far less likely to allow Putin to start WWIII. Nuclear weapons are terrifying.

…whereas #2 would rather have everyone die in a nuclear winter than watch all the tragedy that will happen to women. I am still grieving the election results and my father-in-law’s death, trying to support my family, and would kind of rather burn the world down right now. We process in different ways.

(Can’t reply below your comments.) I hear you both. And, #2, I’m so sorry for the loss of your father-in-law.
My family consists of both racial minorities and folks under the LGBTQ+ umbrella (and women!), so we (in addition to many friends and strangers) would be screwed under Pence. But I don’t quite want to burn it all down – most of the time.
